Background of the Study
Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a revolutionary force in education, offering unprecedented opportunities for personalizing learning experiences. In Kano North LGA, Kano State, the integration of AI-driven tools into educational systems is transforming the traditional classroom model by providing tailored learning experiences that cater to individual student needs. AI technologies, such as adaptive learning platforms and intelligent tutoring systems, analyze student performance in real time, enabling educators to deliver customized content and interventions (Garba, 2023). This personalization not only enhances academic achievement but also fosters a more engaging and motivating learning environment. The application of AI in education is underpinned by the understanding that students learn at different paces and possess varied learning styles, necessitating a departure from the one-size-fits-all approach of conventional teaching (Abdullahi, 2024).
In Kano North, the deployment of AI-driven systems is driven by the need to address challenges such as large class sizes and limited instructional time. These systems can efficiently monitor student progress, identify learning gaps, and provide immediate feedback, thereby enabling a proactive approach to teaching. Furthermore, AI tools support teachers by automating routine administrative tasks and offering insights into student learning behaviors, which can inform more effective instructional strategies (Ibrahim, 2025). This digital transformation aligns with global trends toward data-driven decision-making in education. However, the implementation of AI in Kano North is not without challenges; issues such as data privacy, technological infrastructure limitations, and the readiness of educators to embrace new methodologies have been raised. This study seeks to critically evaluate the role of AI in personalizing learning experiences, examining both its benefits and the barriers to its effective implementation.

Statement of the Problem
Although AI in education offers considerable promise for personalizing learning, its implementation in Kano North LGA faces significant challenges. Disparities in technological infrastructure across institutions limit the consistent use of AI-driven tools, resulting in uneven access and benefits. While some schools have integrated AI systems successfully, others struggle with inadequate resources, which creates disparities in learning opportunities (Usman, 2023). In addition, educators have expressed concerns regarding the reliability, ethical implications, and data security of AI applications, fueling skepticism about their overall efficacy. These issues raise critical questions regarding the sustainability of AI initiatives in education.
Another significant challenge is the preparedness of educators to integrate AI technologies into their teaching practices. Many teachers lack adequate training to use AI tools effectively, leading to underutilization or misapplication of these systems. The absence of standardized protocols for AI integration further complicates the establishment of a cohesive personalized learning environment. Moreover, concerns persist regarding the potential reduction of human interaction in the educational process due to increased reliance on AI, which may adversely affect the holistic development of students (Bello, 2024). This study aims to address these challenges by systematically evaluating the benefits and limitations of AI in personalizing students’ learning experiences in Kano North. Through the identification of key obstacles and the proposal of actionable solutions, the research intends to develop a comprehensive framework for effective AI integration that enhances learning outcomes without compromising ethical and pedagogical standards (Aminu, 2025).
